I think maxime was right. This is all you need for this shot. It's very minimal, but it conveys enough information to give me an emotional response. Cool.
Thanks. When I came up with this crop, the word "essential" came to mind - both the idea of what is essential to demonstrate the person (minimalism), and what is the essence of the person (truth, to use a loaded word).
this one's my favorite--the white on white, the connection between the color in the snowman and person, and of course, the intentional use of the cropped portrait--
